Personal information protection law
Fondation Général Vanier du Royal 22e Régiment (“we”, “our”) operates the website fondationgeneralvanier.ca (the “Service”). This page explains how we collect, use, disclose and protect your personal information when you use the Service, and the choices available to you.
We comply with Quebec’s Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector, as amended by Law 25. By using the Service, you consent to the collection and use of your information in line with this policy.

Definitions
Service. The website operated by Fondation Général Vanier du Royal 22e Régiment.
Personal information. Information about an identifiable individual, on its own or combined with other information we hold.
Usage data. Data collected automatically when you use the Service, such as pages viewed or time spent on a page.
Cookies. Small files stored on your computer or mobile device.
Information we collect
We collect only the information needed to provide and improve the Service, respond to your requests and meet our obligations.
Contact us form. When you write to us, we collect your name, email, phone number (optional), subject, message and consent. We use this information to handle your request and reply. It is sent to the Foundation team. A copy may be stored in Gravity Forms, the tool that hosts the form.
Online donations. Donations are processed by Zeffy, an independent provider. Information you enter on the donation form (identity, contact details, amount, payment) is collected by Zeffy to process the gift and issue a tax receipt. See Zeffy’s privacy policy.
Usage data. We may collect your IP address, browser type and version, pages viewed, date and time of the visit, time spent on pages and other technical diagnostic data.
Cookies, Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics
We use cookies and similar technologies (pixels, tags) to run the site, remember your language preference and understand how the Service is used.
We use Google Tag Manager to manage these tools, and Google Analytics to measure website traffic. Google may collect technical data, including your IP address, and process it outside Quebec. Google may also use this data in its own services, under its policy. Learn more in the Google Privacy Policy. You can install the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.
You can set your browser to refuse cookies or to alert you when a cookie is sent. If you refuse cookies, some features of the Service may not work.
Examples of cookies we use:
- Session cookies to operate the Service.
- Preference cookies to remember language and selected settings.
- Measurement cookies for Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics.
How we use information
We use your information to:
- reply to your messages and requests for information or assistance
- administer the site and keep it secure
- process donations and receipts through Zeffy
- understand site use so we can improve it
- meet our legal and accounting obligations
Disclosure and transfer
Your information is available to Foundation staff who need it to handle your request. We also use providers to host the site, send form emails, measure audience (Google) and process donations (Zeffy). These third parties access your information only to perform those tasks and must not use it for other purposes.
Some providers may process information outside Quebec, including in the United States. In that case, your information may be subject to the laws of that other place. We take reasonable steps so that processing remains consistent with this policy.
We may disclose your information if we believe in good faith that it is needed to:
- meet a legal obligation
- protect the rights or property of the Foundation
- prevent or investigate wrongdoing
- protect the safety of people
- protect against civil liability
Retention
We keep your information only as long as needed for the purposes for which it was collected, or as required by law. Form messages are kept while we handle the request, then as needed for administration. Donation records may be kept longer for tax receipts and accounting.
Security
The security of your information matters to us. No method of transmission or electronic storage is fully secure. We use commercially reasonable safeguards, without being able to guarantee absolute protection.
Your rights
Subject to exceptions in the law, you may request access to your personal information, correction, withdrawal of consent or, where the law allows, deletion. To exercise these rights, write to confidentialite@fondationgeneralvanier.ca.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you may file a complaint with the Commission d’accès à l’information du Québec.
Links to other sites
The Service may contain links to sites we do not operate, including Zeffy, Google and social networks. If you follow a third-party link, you leave our site. We have no control over the content or privacy practices of those sites and accept no responsibility for them. Please read their policy before you provide information.
Children’s privacy
The Service is not directed at people under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you are a parent or guardian and your child has sent us information, please contact us. If we learn that such information was collected without appropriate consent, we will delete it.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. Any change is published on this page, with a new update date. Please review it periodically. Changes take effect when they are published.
